I just bought tickets to Juliana Hatfield at Cafe du Nord on September 25. YAY! I’ve heard so many complaints about her lately – voice is too girly, style is too rough, music sounds dated, what have you. But I love her, particularly her amazing appearance on my favorite show ever (in grade school, granted), My So Called Life (sound on this clip is totally off, but it was the only one I could find):
Basically, she’s awesome. She shocks me with how sweet she can be one minute and how punk she can be another. I’m totally stoked to see her. So, who wants my extra ticket?

In other news, I have some new bands to listen to: Takka Takka, Faded Paper Figures, the new Birdmonster album (which I will be listening to with the band this Sunday at Hotel Utah, and which I will soon be reviewing for KQED) and The French Kicks‘ Swimming, which I’m currently obsessed with.
